Longtime MSNBC cable news anchor Chris Matthews abruptly announced his retirement on Monday. The news came after Matthews made controversial remarks to women and remarks about Bernie Sanders. In comments, Matthews appeared to compare the success of Sanders to the Nazi invasion of Europe. In a separate incident, a female journalist last week alleged that Matthews had made inappropriate remarks to her in 2016.
