Cedric Villani, a mathematician and former Emmanuel Macron loyalist, is gaining support in the Paris mayoral election campaign. But polls suggest he’s more likely to cost Macron’s party victory than gain the support needed to win himself. Villani said that if elected, he would invest five billion euros into a green transit programme, and that “politics needs science more than ever.”
