Conservative party leader Andrew Scheer said on Aug. 21 that he would "never interfere in a criminal court case or overturn the decision of an independent officer of court," while commenting on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's involvement in the SNC-Lavalin affair. Scheer again called upon Liberals to not to block an opposition request for the ethics commissioner to testify on his scathing SNC-Lavalin report, which found Trudeau broke federal ethics rules.
