About 30 firefighters battled a storage barn fire Monday afternoon south of Young's Point. Around 3:10 p.m., firefighters responded to the blaze on Birchview Road. The fire then spread to a nearby forested area, and crews are still there putting out hot spots. There were no injuries, but the barn was destroyed. Fire chief Chuck Pedersen says the blaze was likely started by embers from a weekend campfire from that was not fully extinguished.
