Clarington and Port Hope firefighters quickly extinguished a grass fire which broke out along Highway 401 before noon Tuesday. The fire occurred near the eastbound lanes along the exit ramp to the Port Hope OnRoute centre. Clarington firefighters contained and extinguished the fire before Port Hope fire crews arrived on scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
