U.S. members of Congress elect new leaders as elected lawmakers returns to Washington

The U.S. Congress has returned with freshmen members in town for orientation, as the GOP elected a new leader ahead of the upcoming year and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell won re-elected to stay in his role. The Democrats won’t pick their House leader until next month.
