The only surviving Canadian passenger of the MS St. Louis, Ana Maria Gordon, thanked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his apology for the government in turning back the refugee ship in 1939, saying it’s meaningful for her. She added that while she tries not to dwell on the Second World War and the Holocaust, but said “history must never be forgotten.”
