On Tuesday, Gord Downie performed “The Secret Path,” which was a song about Chanie Wenjak, a 12-year-old Ojibwe boy who tried to run away from his residential school in 1966 to try and find his way home. This year marked the 50th anniversary of Wenjak’s death.
