Europe could be in for record setting temperatures this summer
Description
June 23, 2026
Seeking water and avoiding the sun, Parisians are struggling with the heat. “The city is hell when it’s so hot,” says one resident. Europe is baking. On Monday, parts of France saw their highest recorded temperatures. Over the weekend alcohol consumption was temporarily banned to encourage hydration. Forty people drowned trying to cool down, the country’s prime minister said. Six people also died in Germany. Climate researcher Claire Barnes says Europeans should brace for what could be the warmest year on record. Global’s Nathaniel Dove has more.
