A citizen initiative petition calling for a ban on all new coal mining in the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains launched over the weekend. Since then, southern Alberta canvassers have hit the ground to collect the required signatures, while those in favour of coal mining say the public needs more education on the matter.
