The temporary closure of the El Paso airspace was discussed during a Senate Commerce Committee hearing at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday. When asked whether there would be an investigation, The Chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, Jennifer Homendy, said that her board only investigates after a tragedy has occurred, but pointed out that amid the DCA crash investigation, her team found the safety culture in the FAA was not good and that many people are afraid to speak out in fear of retaliation.
