Minneapolis woman fatally shot by ICE agents during confrontation with protesters
Description
January 7, 2026
An Immigrations, Customs, and Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a woman Wednesday morning in south Minneapolis, according to Tricia McLaughlin, the (DHS) Department of Homeland Security's assistant secretary for public affairs. The fatality comes amid the influx of 2,000 federal law enforcement members in the Twin Cities metro area. ICE is “sowing chaos on our streets and in this case, quite literally killing people. So they are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defence,” said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. He added “And I have a message for ICE. To ICE, get the f--- out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here.” Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem called the shooting an “act of domestic terrorism.”
