Alberta tables legislation to expand private health care

The Alberta government has introduced new legislation aimed at expanding private health care in the province for those who can afford to pay. The legislation would permit some doctors to practice in both the public and private systems. The government insists that there will be safeguards to ensure patient access to care and that the new system will comply with the Canada Health Act. However, as Heather Yourex-West reports, experts studying Canada’s health care system are not entirely convinced.
