As Ottawa prepares to open its very first consulate in Greenland, diplomatic relations are warming in the key Arctic region. Greenland is key to security in the north, and as both Russia and the United States flex military muscle in the region, a Canadian consulate gives Ottawa eyes on the ground. And, south of the border, the Trump administration has positioned the world’s largest, most advanced aircraft carrier off the coast of Venezuela in its Operation Southern Spear. Fully loaded with troops and military hardware, the picture is that of intimidation. But what’s still unclear is what would happen if President Donald Trump decides to oust the Venezuelan leader.
