‘What is the hold up?’: Conservatives push for bill to reduce intimate partner violence

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre is demanding the Liberal government to back a bill that would help protect Canadians from intimate partner violence. The legislation, pushed forward by Conservative MP Frank Caputo, would give anyone convicted of murdering an intimate partner an immediate first-degree murder sentencing. Speaking Tuesday, Caputo says he plans to bring the bill to Justice Minister Sean Fraser in hopes to get it before the House of Commons. “What is the hold up?” Caputo said, encouraging backing from all parties.
