A violent attack at a place of worship in Michigan has left at least two people dead and eight others wounded. Police say a gunman – who is also now dead – opened fire during Sunday service at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, then set the building on fire. Sunday also marked a particularly dangerous and deadly day in Ukraine. Russia unleashed one of its largest ever aerial attacks since the war began, with hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles killing at least four people and injuring 40 others. The onslaught comes just days after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested Ukraine could take back all its conquered territory from Moscow. And, Canada’s Prime Minister is returning home following trips to New York City and the U.K. Over the past week, Mark Carney met with various world leaders for conversations he touted as “crucial” to the nation’s economy and security. However, it’s unclear just how much of that talk has resulted in action. Plus, as the United Nations (UN) marks its 80th anniversary, questions are looming about the body’s relevance in modern times. Financial shortfalls, growing geopolitical divides and skepticism from the U.S. are all testing the UN’s ability to maintain global diplomacy.
