Government and markets around the world are taking stock today, after the passing of U.S. President Donald Trump’s deadline to impose new tariffs on trade. Dozens of countries are affected, but at 35 per cent, the levy on some Canadian goods are among the highest. But so far, the response from the federal government has been muted. Plus, United States envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee visited a controversial U.S.-backed aid distribution site in Gaza on Friday. And tensions are rising over the attempt to evict a longtime resident and elder from Africville, N.S.
