Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist and Columbia University graduate, spoke at a rally Sunday, calling his release from ICE detention only the beginning of “a longer fight towards justice.” His speech came after a U.S. judge ordered the Trump administration to release Khalil, a lawful permanent resident, on bail while he continues to fight the government’s deportation efforts and a lawsuit accusing the government of wrongful detention for his pro-Palestinian activism.
