Saskatchewan under state of emergency as wildfires intensify, Moe urges trained residents to step in
Description
May 29, 2025
At a press conference on Thursday, Premier Scott Moe said wildfire conditions in northern Saskatchewan are among the worst the province has ever faced. He declared a provincial state of emergency and urged trained wildland firefighters to report to local fire bases to support protection efforts. While the province has not yet formally requested federal aid, Moe says conversations with Ottawa and neighbouring Manitoba are ongoing as resources run thin and dangerous conditions persist.
