In what seemed to be two consecutive blows to the Ontario auto industry this week, General Motors announced it is laying off hundreds of staff at its facility in Ingersoll while temporarily cancelling shifts at another plant in Oshawa. The company says the labour disruptions aren't caused by US auto tariffs. But a consulting firm, along with the employees' union, say the tariff's impact can't be ruled out for sure.
