Canada has enacted counter tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles in direct response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25 per cent tariffs on foreign-made automobiles. While mirroring the American move, Canada’s duties will not apply to auto parts or vehicles from Mexico. The measure comes as the auto industry continues to face significant cost pressures from existing U.S. tariffs on steel, aluminum, and a broad range of Canadian goods.
