Liberal Leader Mark Carney said Tuesday during a campaign stop in Delta, B.C. that the tariffs U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose on Canadian softwood lumber are “unwarranted, unjustified and fundamentally misguided.” He added that tariffs would increase the cost of materials for American builders, driving up home prices south of the border.
