Some tenants of 110-year-old Annamoe Mansion say they’re forced to move. The historic, 26-suite apartment building in downtown Edmonton was recently sold to ARH Holdings, who posted notices to all tenants that their rent will soon triple. The company says the $1,800 hike brings the units up to market value, and will allow them to renovate while preserving the building’s charm — but residents call the decision an unfair ‘renoviction’ and say more protections are needed for people in their situation.
