Ontario Premier Doug Ford spoke Wednesday shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a “minimum baseline tariff rate” of 10 per cent, and 25 per cent on foreign-made vehicles. Asked if the Ontario government perceived the announcement as devastating, Ford responded saying “if it was 25 per cent and 10 per cent on top of that — yes — but we don’t believe that that’s the situation.” Neither Canada nor Mexico were included on a list of tariffed countries and the premier was asked if that appeared to be a slight. “I think that’s good news actually when we aren’t named on that list,” Ford said.
