U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told NATO allies on Wednesday that while the U.S. remains committed to the alliance, it will be prioritizing empowering Europe to “own responsibility for its own security,” as the North American country focuses on its own borders and deterring war with China. He also said Ukraine becoming a member of NATO was not “realistic” in his view.
