Speaking on Monday, the Minister of Public Safety David McGuinty spoke about the situation at the Canada-U.S. border and said the federal government is “prepared to deal with any potential surge,” adding that it is “illegal” and “dangerous” to cross the border in between ports of entry. McGuinty also said the government obtained a number of Black Hawk helicopters, which will "make a big difference” in patrolling the border.
