The Golden Globe nominee “Nickel Boys,” directed by RaMell Ross, is a historical drama adapted from Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The film follows a bright and idealistic African-American teen in 1960s Florida who is unjustly sent to the Nickel Academy, a reform school notorious for its systemic abuse.
