Meta ditches fact-checking in efforts to maximize free speech, Zuckerberg says
Description
January 7, 2025
As Silicon Valley prepares for a return to a Donald Trump presidency, Meta has announced it's getting rid of its fact-checkers. Company founder Mark Zuckerberg says it will dramatically reduce what he calls the amount of censorship on Facebook and Instagram and help prioritize free speech. Critics complain it sends the message that facts don't matter, and as Neetu Garcha reports, that Zuckerberg is just trying to keep Trump happy.
