In the U.S., the aftermath and scale of destruction from hurricane Helene is extensive with more than 50 dead and millions left without power. Days after the powerful hurricane roared ashore, flooding is still ravaging parts of the southeast. The storm barrelled into Florida’s Big Bend on Thursday as a monstrous category 4 hurricane, flattening homes. As it moved north, Helene dropped more than 60 cm of rain in some areas, unleashing a torrent of floodwater across Georgia, the Carolinas and nearby states.
