New research shows elephant seals on B.C. coast use sonar to find food

New research shows how northern elephant seals on B.C.’s coast use sonar to find food.  University of Victoria researchers set up the sonar 645 metres below the ocean for an unrelated study. When they looked at the video they found eight male elephant seals were repeatedly visiting the site to hunt fish.
