Driver arrested after fleeing Hwy 7 rollover Peterborough County OPP

A Cavan, Ont., man faces multiple charges following a rollover on Hwy. 7 just south of Peterborough on Monday evening.

Peterborough County OPP responded to the crash around 7 p.m. in Cavan-Monaghan Township.

A passerby reported a passenger in the vehicle had a minor head injury but that the driver had fled the scene on foot.

OPP launched its canine unit while the Peterborough Police Service launched a drone to search the area for the suspect.

Several hours later, the suspect was located.

Brock Hoare, 19, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop after accident and operation while impaired and blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90-days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He will appear in court on Oct. 8.
