During a speech in London, Ont., Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre expressed his condolences to the family of Breanna Broadfoot, a teenage victim of domestic violence. Poilievre criticized the Liberals and NDP for implementing what he referred to as a “catch and release” justice system, which he claims allows repeat violent offenders to go free. Citing Statistics Canada data on the increase in violent crimes, Poilievre said that “catch and release, wacko NDP, Liberal policies have caused one of the worst crime waves in Canadian history.”
