Speaking in Markham, Ont., on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said that she speaks with former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney “often” and that he is actually her son’s godfather. Carney has been reportedly identified as a possible finance minister successor, amid reports of growing tension between Freeland and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
