In the wake of a disastrous U.S. presidential debate performance, there are growing calls for President Joe Biden to pass the baton to a new generation of leaders, from Washington to Hollywood alike. A-list actor George Clooney, who is also a major Democratic donor, has been the latest to join those demanding Biden to drop out through a scathing op-ed, claiming he cannot win against Republican Donald Trump. So far, the American president has refused to give in. But senior members of his own party — including former speaker Nancy Pelosi — are now hinting that conversations could become more pointed once the NATO conference leaves the capitol.
