There’s a new leader in the Islamic Republic with Masoud Pezeshkian taking the helm after the death of the last president in a helicopter crash in May. Dr. Pezeshkian is a heart surgeon and he wants to extend an olive branch to the West and ease enforcement of Iran’s sexist head scarf law. As David Akin tells us, many Iranians including many Iranian Canadians are skeptical over his ability to do all that given that it’s the Supreme Leader who rules over Iran.
