Speaking during question period on Tuesday, Conservative MPs John Barlow and Lianne Rood demanded that the federal government cut the carbon pricing program so that Canadians may be able to afford small vacations and road trips this summer. Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Minister of Energy Jonathan Wilkinson responded by saying that the Conservatives’ strategy was to simply cut funding.
