MPP makes history speaking Indigenous language in Ontario legislature

Ontario MPP Sol Mamakwa made history on Tuesday as the first-ever member of provincial Parliament to ask a question in Anishininiimowin – an Indigenous language. This is the first time in history that the Ontario legislature permitted interpreting and transcribing a language other than English and French.
