Taiwan lawmakers turned violent with one another in Taipei’s parliament on Friday during a dispute over chamber reforms. The violence comes a day before president-elect and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) chairman Lai Ching-te is set to take office — without a legislative majority. The DPP has accused the opposition parties of an “unconstitutional abuse of power,” as they allegedly try to skip mandatory consultation processes in order to push forward their own chamber proposals.
