World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Secretary General Celeste Saulo issued a “red alert” Tuesday over the 2024 state of the climate. Saulo warned that the previous year, 2023, set new records for every climate indicator and said climate change constitutes a “defining challenge that humanity faces.”
