Responding to a question about the importance of seeing strong hockey leagues in places like Winnipeg, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said at a Tuesday news conference that “If I didn't believe in places like Winnipeg, we never would have brought the Jets back.” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly added that “hockey matters here and that’s important to us.”
