NHL commissioner says ‘Sword of Damocles’ not hanging over Winnipeg Jets as attendance slumps

At a Winnipeg news conference on Tuesday, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman responded to a question about Jets owner Mark Chipman’s recent comments about the team’s struggles with season-ticket sales. “We’re not operating under the ‘Sword of Damocles’ or on a razor’s edge. This is part of the evolution of what franchises sometimes go through,” Bettman said.
