Minister of Innovation François-Philippe Champagne said Tuesday that the Canadian government would give the Competition Bureau more time to review mergers, as well as more powers to stop mergers that prevent a risk to Canadian intellectual property. Champagne added that the government will freeze the transaction-size threshold for 2024 at $93 million to ensure a greater number of mergers will be automatically reviewed.
