Israel’s envoy to the United Nations is thanking U.S. President Joe Biden after the United States blocked a Security Council resolution that would have called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. Thirteen permanent member countries including China, Russia, and France all voted in favour of the resolution put forth by the United Arab Emirates demanding an immediate ceasefire, diplomatically isolating Washington, which backed its ally Israel with the veto.
