Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said Tuesday that the exemption on home heating oil from the carbon price was “not undermining” the overall policy, despite criticism from premiers and the federal opposition. Freeland said the exemption would accelerate the transition from home heating oil to heat pumps.
