Speaking from the White House on Saturday, U.S. President Joe Biden promised Israel “rock-solid and unwavering support” after the ruling Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel at daybreak. “When I spoke to Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu this morning, I told him the United States stands with the people of Israel in the face of these terrorist assaults,” Biden said, adding that he remains in “close contact” with Netanyahu as the situation continues to develop.
