Yvonne Boyer said her Senate office has received numerous calls and e-mails from victims who have suffered unwanted tubal ligations and are now seeking help.

Boyer is a member of the Metis Nation of Ontario, a professor in the law faculty at the University of Ottawa and associate director at the school's Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics.

The Saskatoon Health Region has launched a review into tubal ligation after indigenous women raise concerns they were pressured into having the procedure.
