In a 2-1 decision, the B.C. Court of Appeal agreed that some of the evidence heard during William Schneider's original trial should not have been allowed.

"Mr. Schneider treated Ms. Kogawa's body like garbage and left her to decompose in a suitcase," said Justice Gerow in delivering the sentence.
