The 2018 wildfire season in British Columbia has grown to be the worst on record in years, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

A new report done for the RMWB determined that senior emergency officials did not understand the seriousness of the threat that last year's wildfire posed to the community of Fort McMurray.

Alberta has sent 125 firefighters and support staff, five air tankers, two birddog planes and 3,000 lengths of hose to help British Columbia fight wildfires.

RCMP in British Columbia have asked for help and Alberta is responding by sending 40 officers with the Special Tactical Operations unit to help in the wildfire effort.

The Wildrose Opposition leader in Alberta says the government is attempting to whitewash the findings of reports into the Fort McMurray wildfire disaster.

The province is looking for a contractor to conduct an independent review into what went well — and what didn't — during the disaster.
