Edmonton drivers may experience significant delays over the next week while construction work ramps up on the 53 Avenue overpass.

The debate over increasing the speed limit on Whitemud Drive came to an end Wednesday, as City Council voted to keep the limit at 80 km/h.

Mayor Stephen Mandel says he still wants the speed limit on Edmonton's Whitemud freeway to be increased, even though a new report recommends keeping the speed limit at 80 kilometres an hour.
