Metrolinx says congestion at Toronto's Union Station from a switch issue is being compounded by striking electrical workers.

The coronavirus pandemic has stalled progress on the city-led project to build about 20-acres of green space over the Union Station Rail Corridor.

After almost a century of utilizing a complex system of manually controlled levers to operate the switches and signals for tracks at Union Station, Metrolinx staff say a computerized system is now needed for future growth.
